FAQ
Questions, answered plainly.
Are you a 501(c)(3) nonprofit?
We’re organized as a charitable nonprofit and our federal tax-exempt application is in progress. Until the IRS issues our determination letter, donations may not yet be tax-deductible. We’ll update this page and our 501(c)(3) Status page the day it’s granted.
Where is the sanctuary located?
The sanctuary’s service area and physical address will be published once the property is secured and the first animals are in residence. For now, all correspondence routes through email.
Can I visit?
Not yet — we’re still in the build phase. Public visit days will begin after the sanctuary opens. Subscribe to the newsletter to be notified.
Can I surrender an animal to you?
We’re not yet operationally able to accept intakes. Once we open, we’ll publish a clear intake process. In the meantime, please contact local animal control or an established sanctuary for urgent cases.
Do you accept volunteers?
Yes — please join the volunteer list and we’ll be in touch as work becomes available.
How do you decide which animals to take in?
We make intake decisions based on the animal’s welfare needs, our current capacity, and our ability to provide lifelong care. We’d rather decline an intake than overcrowd.
What is the Founding 100?
The Founding 100 are the first one hundred donors at the $250+ level. Founders are recognized on the donor wall (with permission), invited to a private opening-day walk-through, and sent a copy of our Backyard Conservation Starter Guide. It’s our way of marking the people who made the sanctuary possible at the beginning.
What percentage of my donation goes to programs?
We’ll publish our program-vs-overhead ratio with our first annual report. As a young organization, we aim to keep overhead lean and direct the maximum possible share to sanctuary operations and conservation education.
Is my donation refundable?
Yes — see our Refund Policy. Contact us within 30 days of a gift if you believe a refund is warranted.
How will you use my data?
We use your data only to communicate with you about our work and process your gifts. See our Privacy Policy and Donor Privacy Policy.
